Shinsai studied art with Sōri Tawaraya and Hokusai Katsushika. He was best known for his poem-prints and many of them featured flowers and (or) birds. This gallery shows 24 examples. Click on a picture to enlarge it. Shinsai typically drew his flower and bird subjects in a realistic way.
